Sadly, four mature trees had to be chopped down due to disease, However, they were replaced by Salford Council at the end of February. City of Trees in conjunction with Salford Council organised a tree planting ceremony . Pupils from Monton Primary school came out in dreadful weather in wellies, waterproofs and armed with spades dug up the sopping wet ground to plant 4 new trees. These were 2 Alder (Alnus incana) and 2 Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica Purpurea). Hopefully they will survive to grow in to lovely, colourful mature trees.
